The US had its age of vast wealth – with robber barons’ homes evoking superlatives yet distained by the old money “nobs”. The “Gilded Age” is from around 1870 ending about 1900.

In the middle of those years, we take the audience to New York City, including its 5th Avenue mansions — block after block. Besides the edifices occupied by dozens of servants and a single family, there are stories of the uber-wealthy, whose money did not protect them from suffering through the generations. Yet, some of these titans were generous to a fault. Cities were transformed, too – they quickly became modern.
